Cells The building blocks of life
Cells
are very small. They are the basic building blocks of all animals and plants. although all animals and plants made of cells their cells are quite different
Cells are made up of different parts called organelles meaning small organs it is easier to see the major organelles using simplified diagrams.
Large Vacuole
Plants cells are much larger than animal cells
The Large Vacuole is when a plant dies there will be a Large Vacuole and can take up more than half of the volume of the cell
Cell wall
a rigid layer of polysaccharides lying outside the plasma membrane of the cells of plants
Cell membrane
The semipermeable membrane surrounding the cytoplasm of a cell
Chloroplast
Type of organelle known as a plastid characterized by its two membranes and a high concentration
Nucleus
To control gene expression and mediate the replication of DNA
What do these mean
semipermeable
A material or membrane and letting certain things go past it
cytoplasm
A material or protoplasm within a living thing
A carbohydrate example starch, cellulose whose molecules consist of a number of sugars
Nucleus The control center of the cell
